The zero-clearance Flex Island fireplace insert is designed as a room divider, with four open sides enabling the hypnotic flame to be viewed from the front, back, left and right sides. The UL Listed Flex Island models come with a base component that holds the burner and a top component that lines the bulkhead above.
With an EcoSmart Flex 68IL.BX1, you have design freedom with the choice of a Decorative Box on the left or right-hand side. Both designs are fitted with a glass panel that divides the box and the Firebox and creates an attractive streamlined look. One of the most popular of the XL Series burners, the XL900 burner delivers a stunning linear flame. With a 2.4 gallons capacity, this elongated burner can heat up to 646ft2, making it ideal for larger residential and hospitality spaces such as open plan restaurants and bars or hotel lobby areas.
Efficiency is a key feature of this burner, delivering up to 13 hours of heat generating flame from a single refill.

How much does it cost to maintain an ethanol fireplace?
EcoSmart Fire’s ethanol fireplaces require little maintenance. It is important to keep the lid closed when not in use to keep debris out of the ethanol burner that can cause corrosion and damages. The 304 stainless steel tank is built to last a lifetime if proper cleaning procedures are done when needed.
Where is the best place to install an ethanol fireplace?
Our ethanol fireplaces can be installed virtually anywhere - in walls, cabinets, high rise buildings, commercial / residential / hospitality spaces, indoors and outdoors. What is a bioethanol fireplace?
A Bioethanol fireplace is an open fireplace that is fueled by bioethanol. A real flame is produced by the lighting of bioethanol, with a by-product being heat in the process. It is a fireplace that needs no flue for exhausting emissions, no utilities such as electricity or gas connection, and it uses a sustainable fuel source.

How does an ethanol fireplace work?
EcoSmart Fire’s ethanol fireplaces are self-contained, burning bioethanol fuel that is housed within the stainless steel container. A flame regulator controls and stabilizes the flame. Do I need to service my ethanol fireplace in any way?
Yes, normal maintenance and care is very important! Instructions are included in the Installation, Operating and Maintenance Manual supplied with your EcoSmart Fire product.
Do bioethanol fireplaces produce heat?
Yes, although it does depend upon the size of the fireplace and also the size of the room itself. But a fire of an appropriate size can produce a good level of heat when considered properly in terms of its actual output and how it is positioned in the space. Bioethanol fires are a secondary source of heat that deliver a myriad of lifestyle benefits that can’t be achieved from primary heat sources such as radiators or reverse cycle air conditioning.
